Enriching Central Virginia through Classical Guitar Music.

We have been active as a non-profit organization since 1993, providing a forum for the lover of classical guitar music. Since our inception we have sought to bring to our region the very best of professional touring artists for public concerts, monthly gatherings of classical guitar enthusiasts, community service activities including monthly performances at local book stores and coffee shops, programs at local schools and periodic informal playing at local hospitals, senior centers and member concerts.

Artistic Growth.

Monthly Gatherings are a regular opportunity to play for one another, discuss interpretation and generally help us to improve our own perceptions of classical guitar music. Each meeting includes a guest lecturer on varied subjects pertaining to the classical guitar.

Members will also meet occassionally for seminars on subjects of interest led by local or guest experts. Guest artists will lead masterclasses for the community open to members and non-members (for a small fee).

Member meetings are on the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm in the Astronomy building on the grounds of the University of Virginia (see map). Come and play for us something from your favorite author! Members frequently play transcriptions of works by J. S. Bach, as well as other classical and modern authors.

Enrichment.

C.C.G.S. shows support for community needs by providing music for local charitable organizations, hospitals, businesses and retirement communities.

Community Support.

We want to thank the many local businesses and individuals whose support has kept the C.C.G.S.'s dream alive. In order to fulfill our efforts to make Charlottesville a hub in Central Virginia for Classical guitar lovers, we need to know that you want to hear more live guitar concerts featuring the worlds foremost guitarists. Please show your support by becoming a contributing member of our society, and let the dream continue...
